CENTRAL REGION SCOA INDY EVENT

RECAP of the Event

Hey guys, here are a few pics of the show from Saturday, 9/24/05.  Pretty good turnout considering the short notice and late planning by the Southside Mustang Club & dealer!  There were 8 from the SCOA and 12 total Saleens -  with an entire corner of the lot devoted to the Saleens.  Glenn was there with his Extreme Rainbow 2005, but I failed to get a picture of it.

The highlight of the "Saleen Corner" was another fine display put on by Stu Akers and Marc Allen.  We were treated to the first ever side by side display of 1986-29R and 1986-19R.  These were the 2nd & 3rd Saleen R's produced, and drew quite a crowd - along with Glenn Steinhausen's 2005 Extreme Rainbow painted S281-SC (my apologies Glenn for failing to get a good solo pic of your car).

Glenn and his wife Ginger took home an Award Of Excellence trophy, as well as the trophy for longest distance driving to the show.  It was well deserved considering Glenn was the only one that had to clean his front bumper of 200+ miles of bugs!

Overall there were about 75 cars at the show.  (and a few bonus Pantera pics!)

Sunday's cruise to Brown County State Park in Nashville, IN was scratched on Saturday as well do to the late planning of the event and a poor weather forecast.  Good thing too, as Mother Nature moved in early Sunday morning with plenty of rain.

Many thanks to all of you that made it.  Hopefully next year we can do it again, of course with a little more pre-planning on my part in conjunction with the Southside Mustangs.

See you soon at another event!

ANNOUNCEMENT

Hey gang - in keeping with the theme of fun, friendship & Saleens I would like to try to organize a mini-event for September on behalf of the Central Region. The local club that I am a part of (Southside Mustangs) and Ray Skillman Ford (the new Indiana Saleen Performance dealer) in Greenwood, IN are hosting an All Mustang car show on Saturday, September 24th. This show will be at the dealership, and currently they have 4 different '05 Saleens in stock that will no doubt be on display if not already sold. Would be nice to see the Saleens of SCOA well represented at this show! I'm told that Stu Akers and Marc Allen will be in attendance, and again will have a special display of some other RARE Saleens!

We will meet up on Saturday for an early lunch at Don Pablos in Greenwood, then head over to the dealership to get set-up and parked as a group before registration begins. Keep in mind that Indiana does not observe DLST, which means during the summer months we are the same time as the Central Time Zone.

When the show ends I would like to get the group to caravan (only a mile or so) over to The Suds (one of the hottest cruise-in spots around) in downtown Greenwood. The Suds is one of the "early days" drive in eateries where you can still get a mug of good ole' fashioned root beer - and of course good drive in food! This location was actually featured a couple months back in Car Crafts favorite cruise-in locations series on TV. Hopefully its not overly crowded and we'll be able to park a good handful of Saleens next to each other!

For those that are staying over Saturday night and interested, we can meet up Sunday morning for breakfast and then take a scenic cruise down to Nashville, IN. Overall this will be 35 miles or so, bet well worth it if you like to see the fall foliage and drive on curvy, country (but safe!) roads! This is one of the best scenic cruise routes in south-central Indiana! From there we will head across to I-65 (another 15 miles) and depart our separate ways.

Trying to gauge interest in this, so please shoot me a reply and let me know if you would like to come. Hopefully all you central and near-central Indy folks can make it as well as some of you others from nearby. Greenwood is only 90 minutes north of the Jeffersonville show location.

Hope to hear from you and make it happen!

Thanks,

Jason Smith
