The Crystal Cove Show & Shine

March 5, 2005

After record breaking rain fall in Southern California, we finally had a clear weekend to enjoy the sun. Since the west coast is afraid of rain and how it might melt our Saleen’s, this was the first weekend of the year that our cars came out of hibernation. Many members of the SouthWest Region gathered at the weekly show and shine exhibit at the Crystal Cove Promenade. In all there were over 125 cars on display inside the coned off show area. The cars on hand ranged from vintage muscle cars such as AC Cobra’s and Pantera’s to late model Porsche’s and Ferrari’s. It didn’t matter what your particular taste of cars were, there was enough variety for all to enjoy. In all, eight Saleen’s were on hand to enjoy the first sunny weekend of the year. We had Michael there with his 2002 S281E gray coupe; Todd driving his 2002 S281 red coupe; Gary sporting his 2000 S281 red coupe; Dennis displaying his 2000 S281 SC silver coupe; Eddie on hand with his 2000 S281 SC silver speedster; Larry with his 1997 S281 black coupe and matching 1995 S351R white coupes driven by Marcus and myself. The question for this day could have been which car was the most valuable…The 2005 Ferrari F430, a 2005 Lamborghini or an original 1964ish 289 AC Cobra??? While not the most elaborate car at the show, the mustang getting the most attention was not one of our Saleen’s, but rather a very clean 1965 black coupe sporting retro 17” five spoke Edelbrock wheels with a twin supercharged 302. Now that’s something you don’t see every day!!
