The John Force Easter Show
March 26, 2005
Unlike the rainy weather we experienced in December at the Christmas show, the Easter weekend car show produced a beautiful afternoon. The sun was out and shining without a single cloud in the sky. Besides a brand new 2005 C6 corvette, our Saleens were the only late model cars at the show. There were more custom hot rods to check out then you could shake a stick at and early muscle cars were plentiful. Judging by how full the streets and parking lot were, I would say there were twice as many cars on display then in December.
Ashley Force was on hand signing autographs as this show's proceeds were going towards the Mattel Children’s Hospital (one of Ashley's dragster sponsor's). We were privileged enough to meet John Force as he was wondering around later in the afternoon. As he pasted by our Saleen’s, his comment was, "cool, some mustangs are here!" He then proceeded to pick up Larry's granddaughter for a picture in front of our mustangs.
Overall the turn out of Saleen’s were light, but we all came home with some good memories. Larry’s granddaughter now has a picture with the most famous and successful NHRA driver of all time. Eddie won a couple different raffle drawings not to mention made record time driving in from Upland. (we better keep that on the down low so we don’t upset his wife J ) Todd’s Saleen was in the shop, so he drove my S351 coupe to the show. He now has the itch and can’t stop talking about buying an S351 of his own!!! As for me, giving my girlfriend a heart attack will always be remembered. There were three vintage fire engines on display at the end of the street. One is owned by LA County and is loaned out for shows and parades. The other two were privately owned and are dedicated to all the firemen that lost their lives in New York on 9/11/01. Of the two, one had an extension ladder up stretching about 30 feet in the air with an American flag mounted on the end. My comment was, "that would be an awesome picture if they would let me climb to the top of the ladder!!" J (evil grin). The owner was very kind and had no problem letting me climb to the top for a picture as long as I didn't sue him if I fell. J Needless to say, I didn't tell Brandi what I was doing until she saw me climbing to the top.....To ease her mind once I climbed down, I explained to her that she shouldn’t have worried because it wasn't fully extended (it goes to nearly 80 feet high fully extended!!) If trained professionals can do it with full gear on twice as high, why couldn't I take a picture that low to the ground J Anyways, the pictures turned out awesome, I didn't fall, Eddie took a picture of me at the top of the ladder in all my glory and we all have something to talk about until next year.
