We recently had the pleasure of
attending the annual SCOA NE
Region Spring Fling held at
Mustangs Unlimited in Manchester,
CT on April 29th 2007. After
enduring a very atypical New
England winter we were finally
glad to be able to get the cars
out of the garage headed down the
road. It was nice to be back
around Saleens with my best friend
Jay and his gorgeous 90 #113 car
which he has owned since new. I
hope that I am finally getting him
exited about his car again now
that we have a couple of our own
fox body cars in the stable. That
is the car that got me hooked on
these Saleens many years ago even
if Jay does not believe my story!
Something about me owing a Shelby
at the time and him driving a low
budget Saleen! I also have to
thank my wife Lorraine for
allowing me to pilot her
stunning 89 #142 car to the show
and putting up with this car
addiction problem that I have been
stricken with since she has been
around. With overnight rains and
some scattered showers still in
the area we wondered if this would
have any effect on the turnout of
this the first major Mustang event
of the season in the New England
area. Upon our early arrival we
happily gazed upon many rows
of glistening show quality pony's
including a very strong contingent
of Saleens with several of our
early favorite fox body styles and
multiple 05-07 Saleens including
one beautiful Extreme version.
We spent the greater part of the
day just introducing ourselves and
meeting with all the very nice
Saleen owners we could find. Many
we had the pleasure of speaking to
during the event seemed very
interested in our great club and
all its benefits as several
mentioned that they had not heard
of us before. After handing out
many membership brochures and
talking up the club I think we
may have found some new found
friends to join our little crazy
world! Now we are looking forward
with great anticipation to the
upcoming 1st Annual SCOA New
England Regional scheduled for
July14th-15th in Woodstock, CT. I
hope to see as many members as
possible as this will be an event
not to be missed!
