Speaking on behalf of Mike Foley, Show
Chairman and myself, I want to say we really appreciate
everyone for bringing their Saleens to the Nationals and hope
any mix up with the awards won't discourage you from attending
other events we hold. The (3) day event was well planned
and we hope everyone enjoyed it.
Without going into a lot of detail and making excuses, we
screwed up and hope you will accept our apologies. We have
conducting many many shows with the same format, but for some
reason this one took on it's own problems and we never seemed to
recover and hope you can understand.
So you know, the trophies arrived on Wed and
50% were damaged, a call to the award company and replacements were
shipped arriving Sat at noon. These were different from the original
order and the next 3 hrs were spent trying to come up with a plan
and enough to give everyone. This took time away from counting and
double checking ballots and registration changes.
On review of the ballots and registration cards
there were multiply problems, some we found right away and
corrected, while others we didn't discover until later and can't
adjust. Some owners had changed their
classes and parked in different areas. Those changes did not make it
to the actual registration cards were the tabulations were
finalized. There were also many participants' that voted for bumper
numbers allowing cars not present to receive votes because their
Class # matched someone's' bumper number. Still not making
excuses, but wanted everyone to know, we tried our best.
Our efforts to truly recognize all of the
owners who brought their Saleens and other vehicles to the show may
have been tainted and I hope the confusion didn't take away from
that.
With this type of judging, often the best car does not win, it's
just the nature of the beast. Until we actually take on some sort of
concourse judging, which we are looking at, this is what we have. We
are committed to doing the best we can, but are limited in what we
can do.
Again, we apologize for the problems and appreciate everyone who
brought their Saleens or other vehicles to or event and hope to see
you at future shows.
