$10,000+ raised for charities

This year the SCOA raised over $10,000 for Akron Children’s Hospital and Children’s of Alabama. Thanks to the efforts of those who made donations for the giveaway car, sponsors, Nationals attendees, silent auction supporters and the membership at large we were able to make this happen. While we fell short of our goal we still made a big difference for these organizations and it certainly is something to be proud of. Stay tuned for pictures of check presentations to these great charities in the future.

Vaughn Roser name drawn as winner of 97-0013B

On Saturday night July 30, 2016 the last order of business at the SCOA Nationals was to draw the winner of the 1997 Saleen S281 Budget Rental car donated by HESCO in Birmingham, AL. After several minutes of agonizing anticipation while Lee Reese, club president, told the story of how the sponsor donated the car and how much money was raised for charity Rick LeBeau was called to draw the winning ticket. Rick was chosen for this honor because he won the car last year and donated it back to the club to raise more money for the charities. Rick reached into the giant glass jar, stirred his hand around a bit then pulled out a single entry. Lee read the name, Vaughn Roser from New York!

Although Vaughn wasn’t in attendance for the event to feel the excitement first hand, Rick called the phone number on the ticket and left a message. I’m sure it was quite a shock when Vaughn got the message. Turns out he got the message the next day, on his birthday!

Congratulations Vaughn! Enjoy!

2015 SCOA Nationals raises big bucks for Children’s of Alabama

Birmingham, Alabama – This years Nationals brought a lot of first and one of those was the amount of money donated to charity. While we still have to pay some bills and count some more funds we should be receiving soon, we will donate no less than $16,088 to Children’s of Alabama. This is a great day for our club. We are having Fun with our Friends, enjoying our Saleens and giving back all at the same time. What a fabulous organization to be a part of. Congratulations to all of you for a job well done!chidrens
